Adult Inpatient Treatment
Treatment & Services
According to statistics by the CDC, over 1 in 25 American adults struggle with a serious mental disorder that affects their daily functioning. This includes conditions such as major depression, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. However, a 2021 report by the National Institute of Mental Health shows that only 65 percent of people with a serious mental illness (SMI) received appropriate treatment. But why is that? In the Mental Health Million Project, which surveyed over 45,000 respondents, researchers found that many of them don’t feel confident in the mental health care system.
At URP Behavioral Health, we understand that a lack of confidence is a major barrier preventing people from getting the treatment they need. But the longer people go without treatment for a mental illness, the more disruption they face in everyday life. It’s why we’ve designed an intensive inpatient treatment program that takes a holistic approach to mental health care. Our program is developed for people struggling with mental illnesses who need a suitable environment to recover.
We perform a comprehensive assessment to diagnose each patient’s behavioral health issues and design a personalized treatment plan. Some of the conditions we treat are as follows
- Anxiety Disorder
- Bipolar Disorder
- Depressive Disorder
- Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
- Schizophrenia
- Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
- Panic Disorder
- Borderline Personality Disorder
- Schizoaffective Disorder
Since all manifestations of mental illness don’t look the same, we always take a holistic approach that involves individualized treatment. Therefore, residents with the same disorder may not receive the same treatment plan.
We offer a number of evidence-based treatments that are used in combination as part of our holistic approach.
Some of the therapies we provide include:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
It addresses negative thought patterns as a way to change problematic behaviors.
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy
This is similar to CBT and is suitable for people who experience intense emotions.
Family Therapy
It involves counseling to improve communication between family members.
Group Therapy
In group therapy, the therapist works with more than one patient at a single time
Trauma-Informed Therapy
The professional considers the effect of trauma on the patient’s behavior when providing therapy.
Art Therapy
This technique is used to help patients express their emotions and inner conflicts.
Sound Therapy
It’s a tool that uses auditory inputs to help achieve a state of relaxation.
Keep in mind that the treatments you receive will depend on your individual treatment plan. Your primary therapist will prescribe therapies based on your diagnosis and severity of symptoms.
Inpatient Hospitalization
In some cases, acute inpatient hospitalization for mental health concerns is required. Patinets are hospitalized when their condition needs to be managed with constant care and supervision.
- Suitable for conditions that can’t be treated on an outpatient basis
- 24-Hour nursing supervision and on-call licensed physician
- Support by a team of dieticians, psychiatrists, clinical therapists, and nurses.
- Focused treatment designed to stabilize symptoms
Inpatient hospitalization is a short-term solution to help stabilize a patient’s symptoms and allow them to get back to their treatment plan.
Inpatient Programs
At URP Behavioral Health, our inpatient programs are designed for patients who require treatment for mental illness that impact their daily function. To ensure the highest chances of recovery, we provide the following:
- Individualized treatment and low resident-to-staff ratio
- Comfortable amenities, individual and group counseling, and life skill training
- Evidence-based treatments and trauma-informed care for behavioral disorders
- Symptom management and long-term care
- Medication-assisted treatments with medication counseling
Supportive Holistic Therapy
Compared to conventional methods, we opt for a holistic approach that integrates traditional and modern methods to treat the whole person. Instead of approaching only the mental condition, we prefer to look at the physical, mental, and spiritual aspects that impact your well-being.
Some of the main ways we provide holistic therapy are:
- Nonverbal therapies like movement, music, and art therapy
- Nutritional education and counseling
- Recreational and fitness amenities
- Acupuncture, yoga, and massage therapy
In combination with evidence-based practices and medication, if needed, the above-mentioned factors can improve your sense of wellness. Therapies involving music, massage, and meditation can alleviate stress, while regular exercise is proven to stabilize brain chemistry. Similarly, poor nutrition is a risk factor for conditions like depression, thereby increasing the importance of a balanced diet.
Advantages of Inpatient Treatment
By enrolling in an inpatient program, you distance yourself from events, people, and environments that can trigger symptoms. This makes it easier to manage daily activities and interactions. Some of the main advantages of inpatient treatment include:
Controlled Environment
The inpatient program provides residents with a controlled and comfortable environment that eliminates triggers.
24-hour Supervision
The facility has certified nurses to ensure constant supervision of residents and assist them when needed.
Regular Assessments
Our expert psychologists conduct regular assessments to monitor patients’ progress and modify their treatment plan.
Multidisciplinary Team
Each resident is assigned to a team that includes nurses, a psychiatrist, and therapists to provide better care.
Integrative Therapy
Mental health experts at the facility combine psychotherapy, nonverbal treatments, and medication where needed.
Most importantly, inpatient programs increase your chances of undergoing treatment until you’ve successfully recovered. It eliminates limitations such as commuting, family responsibilities, and work commitments, which tend to get in the way of consistent therapy.
Your Inpatient Mental Health Treatment Plan
At URP Behavioral Health, developing an effective treatment plan starts with a proper diagnosis. Our mental health experts are qualified and experienced in performing patient assessments. Some of the conditions we treat are as follows:
- Mood Disorders
- Anxiety Disorders
- Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
- Psychotic disorders
- Self Harm
After a diagnosis, our leading team of psychiatrists and therapists will prepare an individualized plan. While the specifics can differ, here’s what a typical inpatient mental health treatment plan looks like:
- Weekly individual counseling and daily group counseling
- Family therapy to discuss treatment with the resident’s family
- Psychoeducation to achieve a safe and independent lifestyle
- Evidence-based treatments and non-verbal therapies
- Life skill training such as communication, vocational, and anger management
- Employment and educational support to help residents become financially independent
- Nutrition education and medication counseling
Of course, the initial plan that your case manager prepares for you isn’t conclusive of the care you’ll receive during treatment. Rather, we keep track of residents’ progress and make changes to their plans on a bi-weekly schedule. Our staff monitors each resident’s progress and documents it in a dedicated chart using details from daily and weekly notes.
