    History Presbyterian

The history of Presbyterian Medical Services dates from 1901, the beginning of the United Presbyterian Church’s Medical Mission work in the Southwest as a part of its National Medical Mission Program. This early initiative was to supply basic healthcare in the region to neglected communities, a commitment that would lead to something more superior.

Incorporated in 1969 as a New Mexico-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, PMS continues its mission of providing healthcare to the needy throughout the Southwest. Today, Presbyterian Mental Health Services has grown into one of the established providers of integrated health, education, and human services in our communities.

The very heart of Presbyterian Medical Services beats with the rather specific and influential mission of “Presbyterian Medical Services is dedicated to designing and delivering quality, accessible, integrated health education and human services in response to the multicultural needs of its community.”. Using this guiding principle, PMS serves and enhances the lives of individuals and families in this region.

Today Presbyterian Medical Services continues to lead the field in providing quality health and lives for all people in the Southwest. Customer Service, Leadership, Integrity, Respect, Excellence, Team Concept, Employee well-being, and Financial Stewardship/Responsibility, are their core values that reflect the care quality and long-term sustainability of operations based on the needs of the community at large.

Does Presbyterian Cover Rehab for Mental Health Treatment?

Presbyterian insurance does cover mental health services and the support is offered for anyone at all ages. Such coverage includes a variety of treatment options that patients can use to live with or overcome their mental health disorders and illnesses.

Patients who receive medication-assisted treatment under Presbyterian insurance have social security/dental/ psychiatric services to support their recovery. Meanwhile, peer-based treatments, like individual therapy, group therapy, and family therapy, are also available. However, these services will make sure that patients have a strong support system so that they don’t otherwise feel alone during this healing process.

Living with a mental health disorder is overwhelming enough without access to treatment and medication. Presbyterian rehab center aims to make sure that people are provided with the required treatment for dealing with mental health hurdles so that they might as well have better mental well-being.

Mental Health Programs Covered by Presbyterian Insurance

Presbyterian offers many supports to mental health recovery along with all how we can support an individual in their recovery process, not only the physical rehabilitation perspective. The insurance covers rehabilitation but may coincidentally need additional treatments, services, meds, and services too throughout the patient’s recovery journey of his particular condition. Here are the common mental health treatments and services typically included under Presbyterian insurance coverage:

    • Coverage lets people receive treatment without being admitted to a facility and is flexible but it makes sure that you get the care you need.
    • In-patient. The rehabilitation covered by Presbyterian insurance includes a prescription of resources and support to get back on one’s feet for those who need a bit more intensive care.
    • Medication-assisted treatment (MAT). Medication and therapy are combined to cover MAT, to increase the probability of recovery in their substance use disorder.
    • Different forms of therapy. The coverage includes individuals, groups, and families. However, these therapies allow the patients to get emotionally, mentally, and socially healed.
    • Psychiatric consultations and services. It includes access to psychiatric services - consultations with mental health professionals to help manage and treat conditions both effectively and safely.

Presbyterian physical therapy covers these services, but it should be said such a policy varies widely on the specific coverage and eligibility. Be sure to know and always check your details for that, so you know who is going to provide you coverage for your rehabilitation and mental health needs.

How Much Does Presbyterian Cover For Mental Health Treatment?

New Mexico residents seeking mental health care find great support from Presbyterian Hospital Mental Health. The cost of services for mental health will vary depending on your provider-in or out-of-network and plan details, but with Presbyterian insurance, you are covered:

    • In-network providers. Presbyterian in-network therapists are much less likely to increase the cost of your therapy by charging you what is known as an 'out-of-network fee.' Your plan and the therapist’s rates determine how much the copay ranges from $0 to $75 per session. Even your medical plan may cover therapy sessions before you reach your annual deductible, so you’ll want to make sure to clarify your policy.
    • Deductible. But if you haven't met your deductible, you may be responsible for the entire amount for each session until you meet the amount you owe for health care services your insurance will pay.

The best means of understanding how your coverage works with respect to mental health treatment is to check out the Presbyterian Health website or call their customer service at the number on the back of your insurance card. With this, you’ll get the specifics of the costs of therapy sessions as well as the outpatient mental health services your coverage will offer.
