    History Brigh Health

The founders of Bright Health intended to level the healthcare playing field with its ideal of using technology to help deliver better care at a lower cost. It went public in 2021 with more than a billion dollars in venture funding, a read that investors hoped for a healthcare tech company. The company didn’t start that way: it seemed set for success with its innovative solutions in health insurance and care delivery.

Bright Health made swift moves to prevent more financial difficulties from sinking the operation. Therefore, the company had to make the hard decision to step out from some markets and lease some of its insurance products. It included pulling out of Medicare Advantage plans in states that had offered plans in and out of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) exchange.

A key part of this restructuring has been selling its California Medicare Advantage business, including the Brand New Day and Central Health Plan, to Molina Healthcare for roughly $500 million. Financed in June 2023, this deal was a big deal; it shaved loads off Bright Health’s debt and, more importantly, enabled the company to retire its outstanding J.P. Morgan debt. This helped the company clear off its secured debt, at least.

Does Brigh Health Cover Rehab for Mental Health Treatment?

Bright Health Insurance tends to help cover some of their cost or at least cover mental health treatment including therapy and rehab services, yes. While the exact coverage depends on any deductibles, premiums, and co-payments in place in your plan, it can be something that you take more seriously than you initially conclude. It is important, therefore, that you are familiar with your policy details such as the claims process and underwriting guidelines to get the best out of your coverage.

Mental Health Programs Covered by Brigh Health Insurance

One of Bright Health’s standouts in coverage has been the company’s inclusion of telehealth services, an article of increasing commerce as more individuals desire easy ways to receive care. Mental health care through telehealth allows people to participate in therapy and counseling sessions virtually, by using the phone or the Internet. Compassion Behavioral Health, a trusted provider of the full continuum of care for people suffering from substance abuse as well as mental health disorders, partners with Bright Health. These services include:

    • Residential treatment. Residential treatment is ideal for those who require intensive around-the-clock care to heal or recover.
    • Outpatient treatment. If you do not need residential care then standard outpatient treatment means those providing therapy have a range of choices that can suit your life.
    • Telehealth therapy. One-on-one internet and telephone appointments address a lot of mental health needs like anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues and are covered by Bright Health.

If you, or someone you know, is looking for mental health care, Bright Health Insurance can provide you and them with coverage they can make use of, to find the right resources (including telehealth) which can be more flexible and accessible if needed.

How Much Does Brigh Health Cover For Mental Health Treatment?

The amount that Brigh Health mental health will cover treatment varies from plan to plan and depending on what kind of treatment it is. For instance, outpatient services tend to be less expensive than services like residential treatment programs. That’s because residential programs require higher resources and people stay at a treatment facility and get around-the-clock care.

We know that addiction treatment and mental health services can come with a heavy price tag. But they are dedicated to giving you the best level of care considering your particular needs, health, and security, not just the bill. Throughout treatment and transitioning to lower levels of care, your costs go down.

If you have a Gold or Silver plan, your copayments and deductibles are generally your out-of-pocket expenses that you might incur. In fact, in many cases, the remaining costs will be picked up by Bright Health, making it more accessible for you to get the care you need.

If you do happen to incur some out-of-pocket expenses related to your treatment, Compassion Behavioral Health, one of our trusted partners through the Bright Health network, is flexible with your options including credit card payments, which make managing costs smoother.

While Bright Health aims to provide comprehensive mental health coverage as much as possible, knowing coverage, copays, and deductibles for your plan is important to review your details. What you will pay for your mental health treatment is unclear and should be always checked with Bright Health or the treatment provider.
